Malaria prevention campaign

We can prevent malaria

for the school year

11 million cases of malaria were recorder in Cameroon in 2020 with more than 11000 deaths of which 60% were children. These were the dark figures revealed by the new director of the Centre Pasteur , Dr. Mirdad Kazanji at the inauguration of the centre. These figures come to reinforce the fact that malaria remains a major health concern in Cameroon and in Africa.

It is interesting to know that malaria does not have a vaccin so we do a lot in the area of sensitisation on prevention. We always recruit volunteers for sensitisation and distribution of mosquito nets

Health Outreach

On the opening of the school year, Dr. Nkar a health talk to the children focusing on hygiene as key to disease prevention. He explained how germs and bacteria could easily transfer from one person to another through simple actions like touching surfaces or shaking hands. He painted a vivid picture of the invisible enemies that lurked around, waiting to cause harm if proper precautions were not taken.

To drive home the message, Dr. Nkar focused on the significance of handwashing. He highlighted that hands were the primary carriers of germs, as they come into contact with various surfaces throughout the day. By washing hands frequently and thoroughly, the children could prevent the transmission of harmful bacteria and viruses. He encouraged the school staff to always make sure there is soap and water at the hand washing points in school

The children live in very poor hygiene conditions and the always have body infections and one of the commonest is fungi on their heads. So we always treat them for skin infections and intestinal worms

Girls’ dignity 2023/2024

Distributing underwear and sanitary pads to girls at the Mission School of Hope has had a profound impact on their dignity. In many parts of the world, access to basic necessities like underwear and menstrual hygiene products is limited, leading to various challenges for girls, particularly in their education and overall well-being. By addressing these needs, our girl are being empowered , it has promoted their self-esteem, and foster a sense of dignity. Our girls are proud to be in school and pursue their dreams .

The 1st semester 2023/2024 has come to an end and we are glad to present the overall best pupil with an average of 18.12. What is amazing is that , the pupil in question is a female, more to that girls are toping in all the classes in both schools. This is all thanks to your endless support from the girl’s dignity program which has given them the opportunity to get access to basic necessities like underwears and mentrual hygiene products thereby increasing their standard of living. This initiative has made it possible for them to be present and focused in school everyday.
